Astrocaryum aculeatum
IN THE AMAZON, where tucumã is endemic, there is a peculiar sandwich, X-caboquinho: a roll of pão francês stuffed with sliced tucumã, sometimes incremented with banana or coalho cheese. Fruit of a palm tree, this nut can range in color from orangey to red. It has a large internal nut, with dark brown skin, which is surrounded by a deep-yellow, oily pulp usually consumed fresh.
