Schinus terebinthifolius
Not hot at all, this pepper is the fruit of a tree native to South America, aroeira. Sold dried or preserved in brine, the pink tiny spheres are mainly used in the preparation of sauces to accompany meat and fish dishes, or to decorate food. Caipirinha, pasta and even plain rice can be enhanced by the addition of this ingredient. In the region of Baixo São Francisco, between Alagoas and Sergipe, the Aroeira Project encourages sustainable production of pink pepper.
