Cucumis sativus
With light green, streaky skin and small bumps that give it a somewhat rough appearance, this variety of cucumber is easily found in Brazil’s farm markets and supermarkets. The average length is 6 inches. With mild, refreshing flavor and juicy texture, garden cucumber is often used in salads, alone or combined with other salad items. Like other fruits and vegetables, it can also be an ingredient for green juices and, although less commonly, it can be baked and stuffed, or added to hot and cold soups.
