Phaseolus vulgaris
These beige beans with dark brown speckles are the most widely consumed across the country. When cooked, they become very creamy. Consumed on a daily basis, alongside rice, they are part of some emblematic dishes, such as Virado Paulista (rice, bean and manioc flour mush, sautéed collard greens, fried egg, pork chop, and sausage).
