Capsicum annuum
With zero units in the Scoville scale – used to measures the pungency of Capsicum peppers –, bell peppers are treated as vegetables. Widely used in Brazilian cuisine to prepare several dishes, from antipasti and salads to sauces and side dishes. It can be stuffed and baked, stewed, chopped and added to ground beef to impart flavor, transformed into spreads, and pickled vegetables. Cut into strips, it has a crunchy texture.
