The ranking of the 18th edition of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, organized by the British magazine Restaurant, was announced today. It points out the best food places in the world, according to votes of around a thousand international jurors. A Casa do Porco, by the chef Jefferson Rueda, ranked 39th this year and is the only Brazilian among the 50 best, one of the most prestigious and awaited rankings in the gastronomic scene.
From 2018 to 2019, the São Paulo restaurant that is recognized by practicing a democratic cuisine that masters tradition and innovation, has risen 40 positions (they were before in the 79th place). It was a higher position than the one achieved by other Brazilian restaurants included in the expanded version of the list, such as DOM, by chef Alex Atala (which fell from 30th place in 2018 to 54th this year); Maní, by chef Helena Rizzo (now in 73rd place); all of them from São Paulo, and from Lasai (74th position), from chef Rafa Costa e Silva; and Oteque (100th place), by chef Alberto Landgraf, the latter two located in Rio de Janeiro.
The announcement was made at a ceremony last Monday (June 25th) in Singapore, which was attended by Jefferson and Janaína Rueda. A Casa do Porco shared an image of the moment and thanked the support and recognition on its profile at Instagram: “@acasadoporcobar, from our Chefs @jeffim_rueda and @ janainarueda1, is on the list of the 50 best restaurants in the world! We were at the 39th position in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants! We are the best positioned Brazilian restaurant on the list. Thanks to everyone who believes in our dream and helps us make it a reality. It is a huge job of valuing the small pig producer and the entire food chain until we reach the excellence of the @acasadoporcobar menu. Cheers! ”They wrote.
We are proud to see Brazilian cuisine going that far. Congratulations, Jefferson and Janaína Rueda.
